St. John’s Veterans’ Project
The St. John’s Veterans’ Project started in 2006 and is intended to give back to the veterans who have given up so much for our country. The St. John’s Veterans’ Project brings volunteers from St. John’s and the Westland community together with children in local WELS schools to serve local veterans of the United States Military in various ways.
The project collects winter coats, prepares goody boxes, donates clothing to the veteran homeless shelter, gives Christmas presents to the wounded veterans in the Detroit VA hospital, and hosts a Christmas dinner for local veterans. The project also sends care packages and cards to active soldiers serving overseas. The St. John’s Veterans’ Project requires many donations and volunteers each year to be successful, but is always greatly appreciated by the veterans. Please consider serving God and our soldiers with us in this way. There are many ways to help!
